| TGIFridays Grilled Chicken Mac & Cheese | | Being a veteran of Mac & Cheese dishes, I've had many good, and many bad varieties. I've consumed no less than 1,000 boxes of Kraft Mac & Cheese, and most buffets I hit, I try the Mac & Cheese, and have tried a lot of frozen meal varieties. I know what's good, and what's bad. This one, is one of the good ones. The pasta is really good, and use in other TGI Friday's dishes. Its not soggy, and has excellent consistancy. There is quite a few pieces of chicken, and its good, not great, but good. The thing that makes the dish is the sauce, and the fact it comes with a good portion of shreaded cheese, which melts into the sauce. The cheese is awesome, and easily my favorite cheese sauce in a frozen mac and cheese meal. I've picked this one up many times and will continue to do so and keep it in my regular work meal rotation. | | Reviewed by uberrainman who awarded 4 forks on Jan 23 at 10:31 | | | Marie Callender's Sweet & Sour Chicken | | Ok prep time, stir in the middle, took about 5 mins total. The vegitables are carrots and broccoli. The carrots are surprisingly still crunchy, and have an excellent flavor. Broccoli was a little mushy but still good. Main dish was quite good. Rice has a nice consistancy, the sweet and sour sauce has a decent flavor, not great, but decent, and the chicken also tastes good. The breadding on the chicken is quite soggy but to be expected. Overall this is a good tasting meal, and I have purchased it multiple times. | | Reviewed by uberrainman who awarded 4 forks on Jan 18 at 09:27 | | | Zatarain's New Orleans Style Blackened Chicken Alfredo | | Prepares very quick, 4 minutes. Pasta consistancy is very good, nice flavor. The cheese sauce is like the box says, zesty in flavor, and has a solid cheese flavor as well. What makes the dish is the chicken. While you don't get a ton of chicken, the flavor of it is excellent, and has a spicy bite to it. Not extreme by any means, but its more flavory spice than you normally get in frozen meals. Size is a little small, but as is, its already 510 calories so its probably not a bad thing its smaller at 10.5 OZ. I've never had real New Orleans Style Blackened Chicken Alfredo, but this version is really solid and overall a very good frozen meal. | | Reviewed by uberrainman who awarded 5 forks on Jan 17 at 12:33 | | | Marie Callender's Meatballs & Sausage Marinara | | This is one of my favorite frozen meals. Whey I'm buying my weekly meals for work, more often then not, this ends up in my cart.
Its a quick nuke, about 4 minutes and its done, no stiring and heating longer. One of the steamer type meals that both Marie Callender's and Health Choice have. Everything about this meal is excellent. The sauce, the pasta, the meatballs and the sausage. All have excellent flavors and the perfect amount of spice. The flavors also complement each other well.
The only possible complaint I could have for it is the meal isn't bigger, but that's just cause its so good.
If it were possible, I'd give this meal a 10 instead of a 5, highly recommended lunch for work. | | Reviewed by uberrainman who awarded 5 forks on Jan 13 at 10:03 | | | Boston Market Meatloaf | | Prep time was a little lengthy at 7 minutes. flipping the meatloaf patties mid-way is an ackward operation.
First impression of the meat is it reminded me of the Salisbury Steak dinner I had previously from Boston Market, although, this one is slightly better. The gravy is identical to that meal.
The potatoes have a nice flavor, and have a nice thick consistancy. The gravy compliments the potatoes well. The potatoes are easily the best part of the meal.
The "meatloaf" like substance is decent, although I did encounter a few random hard objects in them, in an ongoing effort of the frozen food companies to destroy my teeth.
If I could give the 2 separate ratings, I'd give the potatoes a 4, and the meatloaf a 2 - 2 1/2. So I averaged it at a 3. I put I would not buy it again, but its not THAT bad, I just have other choices I enjoy more. | | Reviewed by uberrainman who awarded 3 forks on Jan 12 at 09:39 | |

Banquet Chicken Nugget Meal with French Fries
|
 |
This is one of the economical Banquet meals that often goes on sale for under a dollar. The chicken nuggets are fine as long as the directions are followed. I enjoyed the fries and the corn is typical frozen dinner corn that has a good taste. The chicken gets tough if overcooked.

Goya Beef Empanadas

These are just yummy and perfect for lunch when it's cold and nasty outside. The beef is perfectly flavored with tomato, bell peppers and onions. For some reason they are more difficult to find than the Tamales, but when I find them I buy them, and I love them every time. You get four of them and two is just perfect for lunch.

Healthy Choice Sweet and Sour Chicken

The chicken is tender and the sauce is just the right amount of both sweet and "sour." There are chunks of pineapple and the rice does not get hard. The green beans are crisp and not mushy.

This is another favorite frozen dinner here and it certainly isn't only for kids. This meal in addition to the chicken nuggets, contains macaroni and cheese, corn, and chocolate pudding with sprinkles. The chicken is not tough and everything else is very tasty also.

Stouffer's Corner Bistro Chicken Carbonara

 |
The Stouffer's Corner Bistro line is clearly intended to compete with companies like Trader Joe's, which provide ready-to-eat fresh meals that consumers can pick up at the store and heat to eat at home. This is an "upscaled" line of frozen products, and the Carbonara is a good choice.

Stouffer's Lean Cuisine Comfort Classics Roasted Turkey Breast with Dressing

This is certainly one of the more tasty Lean Cuisines. The meat is tender and the cornbread stuffing has just the right amount of herbs. I'm not a fan of warm apples, but these were alright and perfectly sweet with the brown sugar glaze.

Fortunately I ate this before I read the ingredients list. I really liked it. Given the amount of sugar and alternatives in it, it's amazing that it's as low carb as it is - only NINE grams! You have to like broccoli, too but it's nice and fresh. A keeper.
